Hi! And Welcome to My World

Well, well, well... I am actually gonna do this...yes, its a BLOG! I have been poked and prodded by my friends to do this...

So, the first post will be short, but sweet. A little about me to start. I am 37 years old and live in Pflugerville, TX. For those without a map, or without access to maps.google.com, Pflugerville is in northeast Travis County, a suburb of Austin, TX. Keep Austin Weird. I didn't go to texas university. I went to the public institute of higher learning established in Texas, the great TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY! Gig 'Em.

I grew up in Bexar County, just outside of San Antonio. My mom and dad have been married for 40 years and my dad is a newly minted retiree after 39 years of counting beans. They are an inspiration.

I met my best friend 25 years ago this August when we started playing football in 7th grade. I am Godfather to his second daughter and his son.

I am for the most part your prototypical Texan. I love Texas History. I am not afraid to tell you that your state sucks. They do grow everything better in Texas, including our egos. I own horses and cows. I ranch with my dad.

In September, 2009, I decided to forgo the second weekend of dove season and had gastric bypass. I weighed 312 pounds at the time.

I got as far down as 185 pounds. Since then, I have settled around 205 pounds, in much better health than before. No more high blood pressure, no more diabetes, no more sleep apnea, no more high cholesterol. The 18 pills and 2 shots a day? Gone.

Since my surgery, I have refocused on endurance athletics. On November, 14, 2010, I completed the San Antonio Marathon. Yes, all 26.2 miles. Dumb ass British. Should be 26 miles, then I wouldn't have had to run up the hill coming out of the Alamodome bus drop.

I also bought a bike. A Felt Z85 and I rode it from Austin to Shiner for 98.5 miles.

In October, 2009, I started dating a wonderful woman, Jina. We moved in together in November,  2010, and just got back from our first big trip together... in Maui. We had a great time, enjoyed wonderful fresh fish, did a little snorkeling, and attended the wedding of my second best friend, who I met my freshman year at A&M.

Ok. so it wasn't that short... but if you have met me, you know my introductions are almost never short...

Have a great night. More to come.

Peace.
